NSW parents, teachers and the State Government yesterday lashed out at the Federal Government over school kits designed to educate kids about Australia's treatment of refugees.
The kits, produced by Federal Immigration Minister Amanda Vanstone, were distributed directly into 11,000 schools nationwide.
NSW Education Minister Andrew Refshauge said the kits went out without the approval of state ministers or the Board of Studies.
NSW Parents and Citizens Associations president Sharon Brownlee said using schools to distribute political material was unacceptable, while peak teachers' unions said the kits should be treated with contempt.
